Welcome to the Wilshire Boulevard Temple Religious School

Shalom Religious School Parents,

Welcome back! We are going to open your eyes and your hearts to the pulse of Jewish life. Commitment to the Jewish people and faith establishes meaningful Jewish identity throughout the generations and that is why you are here. We at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple Religious School provide quality Jewish education to all ages, from K-12, using Jewish texts, songs, stories, dance, theater, food and art. Join the adventure of parenting and help us guide your children into the many gates of Jewish life.

Our Temple’s mission is to integrate the three pillars of Jewish living in meaningful and creative ways. The study of Torah (the grand story, literature and history of our people), avodah (the practices of celebration and worship) and g’milut chasadim (the performance of acts of lovingkindness) are all essential to the development of who we are and what we do. Whether at our historic Temple Campus or at the Irmas Campus, the desire to meet individual needs and to enhance the development of strong Jewish identities keeps our focus on values and the process of lifetime learning.

Our caring and experienced faculty and staff offer challenging, stimulating activities and lessons to nurture a love of Torah, a kinship with the Jewish people, a relationship with the State of Israel, and a comfort with the Hebrew language. We implement Jewish values by doing Jewish activity—acts of g’milut chasadim and tikkun olam (repairing the world), and celebrations of Shabbat and Holidays. Our various programs are developmentally appropriate and encourage growth and reflection for children at each age and stage.

All this happens in a warm and caring environment at both campuses, and either on Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday, as meets your needs. We invite you as a family to learn together, to share, to grow and to deepen your understanding and love for our congregation and Jewish world.

Our doors are always open to you, as are our hearts. Please cue us into your family concerns, questions and lifecycle events.

With blessings for your children and family,

Sarah Hanuka

Head of Religious School
