Yaar (forest): 8th – 12th Grade

Beit Midrash

Beit Midrash is a comfortable Sunday morning interactive coffee house environment that includes facilitated study and engagement with Jewish texts and traditions, as well as tracks in creative arts, leadership development, current events and Confirmation. The Beit Midrash community encourages participants to explore their connection with Jewish spirituality while solidifying their Jewish values. Grab your friends and come on in – breakfast is served!

WBTY

Every 8th-12th grader at Wilshire Boulevard Temple is automatically a member of WBTY – Wilshire Boulevard Temple Youth. WBTY is affiliated with the national reform youth movement, North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), offering regional and national connectedness and opportunities, including an exceptional Israel summer travel experience. WBTY is youth led with a peer elected board that coordinates all events and takes a lead role at Wednesday Night Program.

Wednesday Night Program

Wednesday Night Program (WNP) is the vibrant home of WBTY and a community where friends come together, enjoy a camp-catered meal and explore their connection with Jewish living. Professional staff provide a collaborative mentoring approach that encourages responsibility and development of leadership skills. An ever-changing menu of stimulating activities and seminars keeps this program growing and participants enthusiastically returning.

Ozrim Job Program

Our enhanced OZRIM Job Program is uniquely designed to assist 8th-12th graders in developing the necessary tools to take on leadership roles in our community while providing opportunities for transformative personal growth.  This paid job program includes a job training and leadership development module in conjunction with the opportunity to work side-by-side each week with one of our talented Educators at the Center for Learning and Engagement.  Participants will further explore their connection with Jewish texts, traditions, and values, while serving as positive Jewish role models for our younger participants. Contact the office of the Center for Learning and Engagement or email abenkendorf@wbtla.org for more information.
